Now that you know what the “Mentor Method” is, you may be wondering why you should use it. It might seem like this method is restricting and prevents you from being truly relational with the person you are trying to mentor. However, this method is the most effective way to create disciples and a successful discipleship culture.

Video Highlights:

  • The Non-Method may seem more relational, but it is not reproducible. The Non-Method is random. Once you are done mentoring someone, they may be lost on how to move on to mentor someone else because they do not feel equipped to do so. There was no structure or system tools that they were taught how to use.
  • The Mentor Method will help you to help others discover a Biblical worldview. With the help of the tools on PursueGOD, you will be able to help your mentee see things with a Biblical perspective. In today’s culture, that can be priceless. They are constantly bombarded with different worldviews, making it hard to live a life that is focused on Jesus.
  • The Mentor Method is reproducible. Due to the structure of this method, your mentee will know exactly what to do once they are ready to mentor someone else. The mentor method is a win-win because you are able to be relational while establishing intentionality through training. Jesus was not solely relational in his teaching, but also instructive so that the disciples could continue helping others when he was gone from them.

The Mentor Method is the easiest way to create reproducible mentoring relationships. It is both relational and strategic and will help disciples to gain a Christian perspective on life. If you use the Non-Method, it can be very difficult to make it reproducible, and even more so to create a discipleship culture within your church.
