The Bible teaches that wives should submit to their husbands if they are godly men. But is this idea still relevant today?

Talking Points:

  • God says to submit. Ephesians 5:22,24 Even though this is a tough idea, if God says to do it, there must be a good reason.
  • Many women think this is an unfair concept but that’s only if you don’t understand the full context of submission. Husbands are also called to do hard things in marriage. Ephesians 5:25
  • Husbands are called to love like Christ has loved us. Ephesians 5:28
  • Husbands are also called to love their wives as they love themselves. This is part of the one flesh idea. If a husband is loving his wife the right way, he will feel what she feels and anticipate her needs as though they were his own. Ephesians 5:31
  • This is how God designed marriage to work. Husbands lead in sacrificial love and wives submit to that leadership.
