Winning championships is great but an abiding relationship with Jesus is better!
Talking Points:
- As an athlete, you’re trained to chase success from the start. You work to be a starter and you strive to win the championship in whatever sport you play.
- But, even the height of success in sport won’t completely fulfill you. The only truly fulfilling thing that gives you purpose and value is a relationship with Jesus.
- The parable of the vine and branches speaks directly to this. If you aren’t connected to Jesus, then you will fail to grow and thrive and will eventually die.
- Three keys to staying plugged in:
- Spend time nurturing your relationship with God in prayer.
- Nurture your relationship with God through his word and let God’s truth really guide your life.
- Spend time in fellowship with other believers who will encourage you in your walk with God and will hold you accountable when necessary.
Quote This:
John 15:5 Yes, I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them, will produce much fruit. For apart from me you can do nothing.
