Jesus died on a cross on Friday, and he rose from the dead on a Sunday. So where was he on Saturday?
Talking Points:
- The Apostles’ Creed says (*) that Jesus descended into hell. That may be a misinterpretation of Ephesians 4:9 – which is a verse about the incarnation.
- Immediately after death, Jesus went to be with the Father in heaven. Luke 23:43
- Jesus didn’t have to pay for our sins in hell; the atonement was finished at the cross (John 19:30). When he proclaimed the truth to those who mocked God in the OT (1 Peter 3:18), it was to affirm the truth – not to give them a second chance. Hebrews 9:27
