The racial tension in our culture today has given rise to the “Black Lives Matter” movement. Some Christians respond by saying that “all lives matter” – but that’s missing the point. Pastor Todd explains why.
Talking Points:
- “Black Lives Matter” identifies a systematic mistreatment of blacks today in America. It’s not a statement that other lives don’t matter.
- Racism, prejudice and discernment are all different things. We’re right to be discerning about people in our world – that’s human. But racism is inhuman.
- Silence in the midst of sin is a sin. All Christians should stand together and speak up for justice whenever possible.
- When Jesus flipped the tables in the temple courts (Mark 11:17), he was saying that he cares about all nations, not just the Jews.
