At the moment you trusted Jesus for salvation, God gave you his Holy Spirit. This is a mysterious truth that has incredible implications in the way you live your everyday life.

Key Points:

  • Every Christian has the Holy Spirit in their life. If you are a follower of Jesus you have the Holy Spirit in your life. You may not always sense him, but he is there no matter what.
  • The Holy Spirit leads you in understanding the Bible. Without the Holy Spirit you could still read the Bible and understand what the words were saying, but you wouldn’t be able to get at the true meaning of it. The Holy Spirit gives us a deeper understanding of God’s word and helps it to truly influence our lives. Biblical truth can only transform our lives once we have accepted Christ and gained the Holy Spirit.
  • The Holy Spirit leads you in prayer. Prayer can seem pretty weird at times. Sometimes we don’t know what to pray for or even how to pray. Sometimes you don’t know how to put your need into words. This is when the Holy Spirit really takes part in our life. He prays on our behalf. Not only that, the Holy Spirit will put people or things on your heart that you need to pray about.
  • The Spirit leads you in a life of obedience. When you have the Holy Spirit you can begin to gain the “fruits of the Spirit.”

Quote This:

Galatians 5:22-23 But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.
