God uses the mundane to the do the miraculous in our lives.

God Is Making Us More Holy

Sanctification is the process of becoming more holy. It is an extraordinary calling lived out by ordinary people through ordinary means. The traditional means of sanctification include prayer, Bible reading and study, involvement with God’s people in the local church, and participating in the ordinances of baptism and Communion.

God Uses the Mundane to Do the Miraculous

These practices don’t seem exciting. It’s easy to think there must be something more. Or there must be something more powerful in the moment. But they are essential. If you look at the life of any Christian who is an example of spiritual growth and maturity, they will most certainly have practiced these fundamentals.

Holiness is pursuing a person – Jesus. He meets us in prayer. He meets us in the pages of the Bible. He meets us when we come to the table of the Lord’s Supper. He meets us in his body, the church. These are practices everyone can do. But many people just don’t often try them very well or very long. But to continue with these ordinary means of grace will yield extraordinary results.
