Some church traditions baptize infants and others don't. What's the right perspective on this subject?
Talking Points:
- The pattern established in the Bible is that baptism comes after an individual makes a decision to trust in Christ alone for salvation. Acts 2:41; 8:12; 10:47-48
- Baptism is for people who meet two conditions, neither of which can apply to infants. A child has to be able to articulate their trust in Jesus and they need to understand the symbolism of baptism. Romans 6:5-11
- Rather than baptizing infants or children, we encourage Christian parents to dedicate their children. Matthew 19:14, Proverbs 22:6
