The Bible is big, old and somewhat confusing. Is it still relevant in our modern world today?
Talking Points:
- We’re living in a modern, western worldview whereas the Bible was written with an ancient middle-eastern worldview.
- Today we consume information in quick little hits but the Bible requires a disciplined approach that is slow and methodical.
- Our culture is more divided than ever because we’re trained to make snap judgements of those that think differently. The Bible calls us to be careful with our words and to be wise in our approach to life. Colossians 4:5-6
- Instead of a “me-focused” mentality, the Bible calls us to love God and others. Matthew 22:37-38

- How often do you read the Bible? What keeps you from reading it more?
- Why is it so easy to be judgmental towards those that think differently? How have you been on the receiving end of judgement in the past?
- Read Colossians 4:5-6. What does wise living look like? How can you be gracious and understanding towards those that don’t agree with you?
- Read Matthew 22:37-38. What’s wrong with a “me-focused” life? How can you grow to love God more and how will that affect your ability to love others?
- Is there a step you need to take based on today’s topic?
