Is “pursuing God” really just joining a church or religious organization? A lot of people equate “God” with “religion.” This isn’t necessarily good!
Key Points:
- When people think about “religion,” they often think primarily about obligations, pressure, guilt, rules, and rituals. People can never live up, and they feel bad about themselves.
- Pursuing God is not about religion or religious institutions, but about knowing and growing in your relationship with God through Jesus Christ. It’s about love, communication, care, freedom, and joy.
- God doesn’t want us to “join a religion.” He wants us to be in a relationship with him. (Leviticus 26:12.)
- When you think about pursuing God, don’t think about “joining a religion,” but about growing in your relationship with God and with a community of faith that is seeking the same.
Quote This:
Leviticus 26:12 I will walk among you; I will be your God, and you will be my people.
