Student groups at pursueGOD.org are designed to help young people go "full circle" in their faith. Students who actively make disciples while in high school are more likely to pursue God beyond graduation. Ephesians 4:14

Talking Points:

  • Student groups are small groups with up to 12 students led by two co-leaders. Groups meet weekly for 5-10 week sessions, covering topics from pursueGOD.org. The goal is to help students become “full circle” followers of Jesus. (See image below.)
  • Groups meet for up to 90 minutes, starting with a game or activity and ending with a conversation. Younger groups may only spend 10 or 15 minutes on a topic, and that’s OK!
  • Student groups are typically hosted in a home under the supervision of parent hosts (parents of one of the student leaders). Parent hosts help in two ways:
    • Help schedule meetings and communicate with parents.
    • Help make meetings safe and fun.
  • Student groups are organized into three sessions to simplify training, enrollment, and integration with the larger youth ministry. (See sample calendar.)

  4. What is a parent’s role in a student group, and why is it important?
  5. Talk about your church’s student group calendar. Are you interested in helping with a student group in the upcoming session?
  6. Is there a step you need to take based on today’s topic?
