The Kingdom of God will be God's diverse family of sons and daughters that have given their lives over to Him. If we really want to reflect God's Kingdom, we've got to be intentional about looking like it. Here are three ways...

Talking Points:

  • Be intentionally uncomfortable. Jesus calls us to make disciples in Judea, Samaria and the ends of the earth. That means the people we hang out and do life with shouldn’t all look and sound like us. Acts 1:8
  • Understand that who you are is not normative everywhere. The way you do things culturally isn’t necessarily the “right way” to do it.
  • Stay in relationship with those who are not like you. Don’t go back to your “normal” culture once you’re done serving the people who are different from you.
Discussion:
  1. Initial reactions to this topic? What jumped out at you?
  2. Read Acts 1:8. Explain the difference between Jews, Gentiles, and Samaritans.
  3. What types of people make you uncomfortable. Make an honest list.
  4. What are some things that you consider “normal” that another culture would find strange? What are some things that you find strange in other cultures?
  5. How can you open the door to serving or discipling someone outside of your comfort zone? Be specific.
  6. Is there a step you need to take based on today’s topic?
