The resources at pursueGOD.org make it easy for anyone to begin mentoring the people in their world – whether at home, in the community or at church. Here are five simple tips for making it happen.

Tip #1: Simply invite.

Whether it’s inviting someone to church or to coffee, just be invitational. Try sharing a link from our resources, picking a topic that would be interesting to the person who’s receiving it. Just send it and be ready to follow up. You’ll be surprised by how hungry some people are for truth in love.

1 Corinthians 11:1 And you should follow me as I follow Christ.

Tip #2: Simply model.

Don’t forget that helping someone pursue God starts with your own pursuit of God. You can’t lead someone to where you’ve never been. Live it yourself, and then others will know how to live it for themselves. Remember that Jesus taught us to love God and love others. Do that, and you’ll live an attractional life.

Tip #3: Simply teach.

Don’t let your teaching be complicated. Keep it anchored in the 3 truths of Foundations. And use simple tools from our library to keep having reproducible conversations.

Tip #4: Simply listen.

Don’t do all of the talking. Listen to the people you are mentoring. Don’t forget the simple “FLEX” method, and don’t dominate the conversation. Pay attention to their perspective and opinions as you walk with them toward the truth of a biblical worldview.

Tip #5: Simply trust.

Trust that God cares even more about people than you do. Your part is to speak truth in love. Their part is to respond to the truth they’re hearing. God’s part is to take that seed and make it grow.

Deuteronomy 30:19-20 “Today I have given you the choice between life and death, between blessings and curses. Now I call on heaven and earth to witness the choice you make. Oh, that you would choose life, so that you and your descendants might live! You can make this choice by loving the Lord your God, obeying him, and committing yourself firmly to him. This is the key to your life.”
