Typically a Christian may say that they want to go and make disciples. Often, what we mean by this is that we are going to invest in someone, invite them to follow Jesus and teach them to place their trust in God. Helping someone get started in their faith is the greatest gift you could ever give them. This is Foundations Truth #1.

But you don’t want a person to stop there in their pursuit of God. Hopefully, you will then help them to really be a disciple, really a follower of God. This means that you teach them how to honor God with their life, to live their life in obedience to God and to figure out what pleases him. This is Foundation Truth #2. However, we don’t want to stop here. Even though this “Truth 2 Christian” may be reading their Bible, praying, going to church and avoiding behaviors that dishonor God, there still is more.

Matthew 28:19-20 Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.  Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”

If you stop at Foundation Truth #2 you have made a disciple. That is great but you want to make a Disciple-Maker Maker. It is extremely important to get them to move to Foundations Truth #3. This is taking someone full circle. Now, not only are they a disciple, they are a disciple that is making disciples. You are helping them learn and grow in their faith by teaching them to mentor others in their walk with God. You are teaching them to be obedient to Jesus’ command to make disciples. This is going to influence future generations far beyond your reach.

Be a Disciple-Maker Maker!
