Scientists predict that the world is slowly fading away, and life in the universe will be unsustainable in 5 billion years. But what does the Bible say?

Scientists tell us that the world only has half as much energy as it did 2 billion years ago. The current theory is that the world began at the Big Bang and that everything came into existence in one moment. Since that time we are losing energy and are heading toward death. From this theory, many of these scientists have concluded that life has no meaning.

Video Highlights:

  • A universe with no meaning.  The Apostle Paul said it this way: “If the dead are not raised, then just eat and drink for tomorrow we die.” (I Corinthians 15:32.) King Solomon came to the same conclusion. He said that everything done under the sun (here on earth without God) is meaningless. (Ecclesiastes 1:1-2, 14.)
  • Life without something beyond this life does not make sense. But if something existed before energy was created, then certainly that same thing could exist now. Christians believe that something is God. Something does not come out of nothing. God is the first cause. He was there before the world began and he will be there at the end. At the end of his life, after an exhaustive search for meaning, King Solomon said to remember your creator, to fear God and to keep his commandments. (Ecclesiastes 12:1-2, 13.)
  • With God our lives can have purpose and meaning. Even at the end of existence on earth, God will still be there and we will still be there with him. The first heaven and first earth will pass away but God will create a new heaven and a new earth where he will dwell with his people. (Revelation 21;1-4) God knew all along that some day this earth will be gone, because he created it. He was there in the beginning and will be there at the end (Revelation 21:5-7). Although it is true that life, as we know it will end one day, life with God gives us meaning and purpose.
