Some people associate being a Christian with going to church or reading the Bible. But none of those things make you a Christian.
Talking Points:
- Pick up a Bible or download the Bible App and start reading it for yourself (try our Chapter a Day Reading Plan). Pay attention to who Jesus is and what he did on the cross. Pray and ask God to reveal himself to you, and be honest about your own shortcomings. Find a church, a small group or a mentor, and ask lots of questions.
- After you’ve learned what the Bible says about our sin problem and what Jesus did to rescue us, you’ll be ready to have your defining moment of faith. The “faith moment” is a lot like the “I do” moment on a wedding day. It’s a moment that changes a person’s life forever. Romans 10:9
- When you’re ready for your personal “faith moment”, pray a prayer like this with a friend or mentor:
Jesus, I recognize I’m a sinner. I know that you died on the cross and rose from the dead so that I could have life. I’m turning from my sin now, and I’m turning to you in faith. I trust in you alone to forgive my sin and give me new life. Thank you for this free gift. Amen.

- Initial reactions to this topic? What jumped out at you?
- Read Romans 10:9. On a scale of 1-10, how close are you to your “defining moment”? What questions do you feel you need to investigate before you become a Christian?
- Identify a church, small group or mentor who can help you in your pursuit of God. What part will they play in your journey? What part are you willing to play?
- Is there a step you need to take based on today’s topic?
