The next time your teenager rolls his eyes at you, stop to think before you react. Are you committed to both sides of parenting?
Talking Points:
- The “truth” side of parenting is giving guidance, setting boundaries, and disciplining. A human being’s natural bent is to rebel against this as a kid – and especially as a teen. Romans 3:23
- The “love” side of parenting is praising, listening, and encouraging. Love creates the environment that gradually opens the heart of the teenager to receive truth. Romans 2:4
- Dads must intentionally parent with truth and love. Failing to engage this way throughout the teenage years often leads to rebellious or dysfunctional kids. Ephesians 4:15
