The Bible says that when we trust in Jesus, we are like new creations in Christ. What does that mean?

Key Points:

  • As Christians, we are spiritually rich, yet we don’t cash in on what God has for us. This is often explained in the common New Testament (NT) phrase “being in Christ.” This phrase occurs over a hundred times in the NT!
  • Being in Christ means that what’s true of Jesus is true of us – if we trust Jesus alone for our salvation.
  • Jesus’s perfect access to God, his righteousness and blamelessness – is all true of us, just like if you merged bank accounts with a rich person if you married them.
  • If we are struggling with guilt and sin, it’s probably because we’re not actually living in the truth that if we are “in Christ,” what’s true of Jesus is true of us.
