The Bible says the heart is deceitful so making decisions based just on your feelings is dangerous.
Key Points:
- Our heart only tells us what we want to hear. It expresses our desires but often neglects our intellect and intuition, and can lead us to sin.
- Feelings come first when we follow our hearts, and we will often feel good for a moment, but worse later by simply trusting our feelings.
- While we might not understand our heart, God does. He knows how to help us make sense of our feelings and channel them into good decisions.
- God has not only created us with feelings, intellect, and intuition, he has given us the Bible, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit as tools for making all of our decisions. We have more than just our heart to use, so let’s use everything we have been given.

Proverbs 3:5-6 Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.
