Prophets may still exist today, but beware! Those who claim to speak for God are often just trying to sell you something.
Talking Points:
- Old Testament prophets confronted sin and then called people back to repentance. Many “modern-day” prophets do just the opposite – promising people health and wealth.
- Old Testament prophets were often specific (and accurate) instead of general. Many “modern-day” prophets make blanket statements that can easily apply to a handful of people. Deuteronomy 18:20
- Old Testament prophets were not motivated by money. Many “modern-day” prophets promise people a blessing in return for financial giving.
