We asked a military chaplain about how to share faith with men and women in the armed services. Here’s what he said.
Key Points:
- Be authentic. People want to know that you are living and speaking honestly.
- Build a relationship. Before people want to listen to you, they need to know you’re trustworthy.
- Wait for a crisis. People often do not seek spiritual counsel or discipleship when things are okay. When someone’s back is against the wall, they often turn to God.
- Have a conversation. When times get tough, draw on your experience and the foundation of your relationship to simply talk to your fellow servicemembers about real life and faith topics.
