An attribute of God is not something that is just a part of God, but something that is true of God in his basic nature and character.

God Is Infinite

To say that God is infinite means that he is limitless. Every one of his attributes is infinite. His love is limitless. His power and knowledge are limitless.

Psalm 147:5 (NIV) Great is our Lord and mighty in power; his understanding has no limit.

For example, if God is infinite with respect to time, he is eternal.

Psalm 90:1 (NIV) Before the mountains were born or you brought forth the whole world, from everlasting to everlasting you are God.

God Is Just

Justice is the application of equity to a moral situation. It involves balancing the scales so every wrong is set right. When God practices justice, he does not look to a standard of right and wrong outside himself. His very character is the standard by which he judges. Right and wrong is based on the nature of God himself.

God Is Truth

Truth is that which coincides with reality. God’s perspective on reality is perfectly accurate. Whatever he says and does is true.

Numbers 23:19 God is not a man, so he does not lie. He is not human, so he does not change his mind. Has he ever spoken and failed to act? Has he ever promised and not carried it through?

Because God is truth, you can trust him in whatever he says. His promises are good.

God Is Good

Psalm 119:68 You are good and do only good; teach me your decrees.

God’s goodness is absolute and complete. Not only is God good, but he only does good. God’s goodness leads us to praise him.
