A popular theory in psychology says humans are all basically good. In other words, it’s most natural for us to be good. What does the Bible say?
Talking Points:
- Our culture says that people are basically good, but the Bible says the opposite. A great way to test this theory is to look at kids. It doesn’t take long for infants to begin disobeying and disrupting.
- Humans are the greatest destructive force in nature. Many species of plants and animals have gone extinct because of humans. Humans have destroyed ecosystems through pollution and industry.
- The Bible says sin makes us basically bad. This doesn’t mean we are all evil murderers. It means we are unholy and in rebellion against God by nature and the only solution is to be made holy. Romans 3:10-18
- Because we are basically bad, we need Jesus. Jesus is the only one who could die for our sins because he was perfectly holy. Thanks to Jesus, anyone who places their trust in him alone for their salvation and forgiveness can be made holy in God’s eyes. Romans 8:1-4
