The Goal
We believe disciple-making is all about helping people become the kind of follower Jesus envisioned all along. We call Jesus’ brand of Christianity “full circle” faith, and it involves three activities:
The Strategy
The PG tools are built for relational discipleship. Every topic in our library empowers you to walk shoulder-to-shoulder with others as you help them discover the truth of God’s Word. The strategy works in 3 phases:
Invite
Invite others into life-giving conversations using a Start Page for easy access to topics.
Invest
Continue to cover topics until they’re ready for The Pursuit, our 12-week discipleship track.
Empower
Empower them to pay it forward and help the next person pursue God, just as you did with them.
Workshop Preview
In our training workshop we won’t just give you information; we’ll model our disciple-making method. Preview the Session One video below, and come ready to talk about it at the workshop.
Key Points:
- Jesus came to the earth to help people pursue God, and his strategy was to empower generations to do it.
- Jesus picked fishermen instead of Pharisees to make a point: regular people can do this. Matthew 4:19
- The crowds had sermons, but they needed shepherds to disciple them. Matthew 9:36-37
- Making disciples is a command, not a suggestion. Matthew 28:19-20
Podcast:
- What is your initial reaction to this topic? What jumped out at you?
- What do you think of when you hear the word “mentoring?” Have you ever had a mentor at school, in sports, or at work? Describe the relationship.
- Read John 1:43. Is it surprising to you that Jesus picked a bunch of fishermen as his closest disciples? Explain.
- Make a list of the activities you consider to be “normal” in the Christian life. Is disciple-making on that list? Have you actually ever done it?
- Read Matthew 28:19-20. Do you think the disciples felt qualified to become mentors? Do you feel qualified? Why or why not?
- Who personally helped you to pursue God? How did they do it?
- Write a personal action step based on this conversation.
