Followers of Jesus are encouraged to read scriptures of other religions in order to understand and love the people around them.

Key Points:

  • Don’t look to these texts for spiritual wisdom or insight. But it’s good to have a working knowledge of other people’s beliefs. (Proverbs 4:7.)
  • Simply reading the Quran won’t be the ultimate thing to lead someone to Christ. The work of the Holy Spirit is the key to any person’s salvation.
  • As Christians, our job is to speak the truth in love with the people around us. Reading sections of another person’s scripture may be seen as a loving gesture, and it may give you insight for speaking the truth. (Ephesians 4:13.)
