Calvinism is the formal name given to a Christian theological perspective held by some Christians today, summarized well by the acronym TULIP.
Key Points:
- T = Total Depravity. People are flawed to the core and unable to save themselves.
- U = Unconditional Election. In God’s sovereign will, he has chosen some to be saved (“the elect”).
- L = Limited Atonement. Christ died only for “the elect”.
- I = Irresistible Grace. When God calls us, we are irresistibly drawn to the offer of salvation.
- P = Perseverance of the Saints. Those who are called will not fall away.
Quote This:
Ephesians 1:11 Furthermore, because we are united with Christ, we have received an inheritance from God, for he chose us in advance, and he makes everything work out according to his plan.
