Many Christians never mentor (disciple) people in their world – and if they were really honest they’d admit to one or more of these lame excuses:
Excuse #1: It’s not my job.
So many Christians think pastors should be the only ones discipling people. Wrong. Jesus called every follower of Jesus to do it.
Excuse #2: I don’t know enough.
Lame. You’ll never feel like you know enough Bible to help someone. But mentoring is not about knowledge; it’s about loving people. Use the resources in our library to help you with Bible knowledge.
Excuse #3: I don’t have the time.
Really? There’s nothing more important than helping someone pursue God. Cut out some TV. Spend less time at work.
Excuse #4: The other guy doesn’t have the time.
Don’t let that stop you. If you’re both real busy, try mentoring over the phone in 30 minutes a week.
Excuse #5: It’s not my personality.
Maybe you’re shy or awkward. So what? There are people out there just like you, and nobody is better equipped to help them than you.
